This visual is designed to help you indicated who should be talking in an interaction - you or the learner. By using the microphone plate, you can provide a tangible and interactive indication of who's turn it is to talk - without using your voice, which can be counter-productive.
Sometimes the hardest instruction to communicate is when you want your child / student to communicate or vocalize. Worse, it’s often counter-productive to use your own voice to tell them!
By using a talking turns: microphone plate, we can shape the association that when the microphone points to you, you are expected to talk! During future teaching and play situations, we can prompt them to speak when it is their turn, fostering natural communication.
